UNC Charlotte


The University of North Caroline at Charlotte is a beautiful southern schools located right outside the urban city. UNC Charlotte has a lot to be proud of including top notch academics, engaging community efforts, arts and cultural experiences, and competitive athletics. The Carnegie Foundation named the university as 1 of 361 Engaged Universities in the United States. The university is home to over 28,000 students annually with plenty of academic programs to explore. UNC Charlotte offers 79 bachelors programs, 64 masters programs, 44 graduate certificate programs, 27 graduate online programs, and 21 doctoral programs. The 49ers Athletics program supports 17 sports teams that compete at the NCAA Division 1 level. Fans known as “The Niner Nation” truly love their athletes and can be found at any of the four stadiums on campus cheering them on. For students who aren’t into sports, there is still a lot to do, including taking a walk through the 990 acre sculpture garden, enjoying the outdoors at the botanical gardens or Toby Creek Greenway, or checking out the Performing Arts Center on campus.

Why did you choose to attend the UNC Charlotte?

My older brother chose to attend the university a couple years before me, so I was able to familiarize myself with the university at a young age. I really appreciated the mission of the administration to assist on making sure all students excel in every aspect of the university.

What do you like most about UNCC?

I really like how the university offers so much, and it just continues to grow each year.

What do you like most about living in Charlotte?

There is always something to do, and the university is so close to the actual city that it gives you a lot of opportunities.

What do you like to do for fun/hobbies?

I find a lot of joy in music and food. I have become familiar with many local bars and restaurants that serve different, yet tasteful, foods and offer musical events for most genres.

Do you have any advice for incoming freshman?

The cliché “cherish every moment” means more than just that. Appreciate all the experiences, and work hard to set yourself up for the future, but don’t forget to enjoy it along the way. This is a life to be lived, not to just be alive, so fulfill your desires.
